Divorce T-shirts

February 26th, 2010

Has anyone heard of the recent phenomenon of divorce parties? This may sound strange but the idea behind it is to celebrate the chance to begin a new era in one’s life. This is through organising divorce parties with a group of friends and even having special divorce cakes made and divorce slogan printed t-shirts. In many ways it is the opposite of the hen party. I heard of one woman who organised a night out one weekend wearing cheap wedding dresses in order to celebrate her divorce.

Divorce T-Shirt

An entrepreneur in Britain has even started a divorce trade show where people can actually go and organise the products they want to have at their divorce parties. Now in its second year the event has grown significantly. Maybe Banana Moon will be setting up a personalised clothing stall there in the future.

Another perhaps less drastic interpretation of the divorce party is where the ex-couple co-host an event with their family and friends which celebrates the life they shared together and asks for support as they embark on their new single lives. This seems a lot more civilised and perhaps this can only be done in certain circumstances where the split is amicable. I guess for the majority, the divorce party’s popularity will hinge on the more cynical reasons for a split. If this is the case, I wonder what kind of designs we may get sent through for embroidered and printed divorce t-shirts. Rumours of brides with boxing gloves may become a reality. Maybe some women might even fancy a divorce hoodie to wear to the shops!

Vancouver 2010 – Catching the skiing bug!

February 24th, 2010

Anyone watching the Winter Olympics at the moment maybe feeling the urge to partake in a ski tour over Easter! Banana Moon have seen a steady flow of orders for ski-tour hoodies since before Christmas but there seems to be a bit of a boom right now. I wonder if it’s a bit like the Wimbledon effect where everyone gets really into playing tennis over that particular fortnight.

I have been watching bits of the Winter Olympics coverage on the BBC and have found it fairly interesting. As a non-skier myself I particular enjoy the Ski-Cross which is a new very exciting addition to the games as some of the jumps are incredible. Also the curling is always good for a bit of national pride as Britain are generally quite good at it. I know some of our customers who bought personalised hoodies from us are actually visiting the Olympics whilst they are away, so maybe we’ll see some of our printed hoodies on the BBC!

If anyone reading this is about to embark on a ski-tour, then you may wish to look at ordering some embroidered and printed clothing to identify your group or as a simple momento. Follow these four simple steps to make an enquiry/order:

  • Select a garment – Probably hoodies? If so, The Uneek UC502 is a well priced really thick hoodie to keep you warm. Or if people are more concerned with colours then the AWDis JH001 has 45 different colour ways!
  • Decide on logos – Normally an embroidered logo of the organisation you are going with, and individual printed names on the back or down the sleeve.
  • Contact us for a really quick quote (normally replied to within the hour).
  • Gather everyone’s details and confirm the order  – colour, sizes, names etc.

Send this through to us at sales@bananamoon.co.uk and we will do the rest!

Mini-Marketeers or Exploitation?

February 19th, 2010

I read an alarming article recently stating how children as young as seven are being used by branding agencies to mention brands such as Fanta and Lady Gaga on social networking sites.

Lady Gaga

Some children are being paid around £25 a week to do this, which I find hugely disturbing that marketing agencies have now exhausted every single selling angle that it now focuses on manipulating the way children interact with their peers in what is ‘supposed’ to be a safe social environment for fun and entertainment. Is there no way people can just stick to more conventional methods of marketing or do we have to stoop so low to commercialise every aspect of people’s lives? One might argue that this is one of the key features of Social Networking media and its large success worldwide is based around its ability to be easily commercialised. Or is it really any different from me updating our Banana Moon Facebook and Banana Moon Twitter feeds advertising our services?

Perhaps we at Banana Moon are too morally conscious to ask a 12 year old to put his Facebook status as ‘Banana Moonz hoodies r da best!’ However, we are proud that we do receive a lot of testimonials from happy customers expressing their thanks for our embroidery and print quality. We also know that some of our customers have discussed our personalised hoodie service on internet forums and social media, which has been great for spreading the word about our personalised clothing.

Happy Retirement Marion

February 12th, 2010

Today is a sad day at Banana Moon as Marion has begun retirement. Marion has been with us for 11 years and many of our long-term customers will have dealt with Marion at some stage. She originally came in to work in sales order processing and would often be the first friendly voice that customers would speak to on the phone.  Following that she turned to stock control – a role which she always most enjoyed. Kindly, Marion offered to stay with us to oversee our move to our current brand new location. Marion has seen our growth from the early stages, when we used to deal mainly with local embroidered school and nursery uniforms. With the exponential growth of the internet and the accessibility of our website personalised clothing has grown in all areas from Forces Tour T-shirts to Personalised Hoodies.

Banana Moon's Marion

Marion has been one of the core members of our team in her time here and has certainly contributed to our team spirit always looking out for the interests of Banana Moon. She has been a great employee, a real hard worker and someone who will be very hard to replace. So good luck Marion, we hope you enjoy your retirement!

World Cup Year 2010 – A kick start!

February 9th, 2010

People in the industry will often express their excitement at football World Cup years as the buzz around the event creates a yearlong industry boom in Personalised Clothing orders. As we enter our first period of economic growth for a number of years, maybe the World Cup is what the country needs to get things moving in all industries.

Football World Cup 2010

Has the over the top John Terry witch hunt served to devalue the England Team or is something like this what we needed to kick start the ‘World Cup buzz’? Whichever way you feel, we at Banana Moon are now starting to receive enquiries for World Cup Printed T-Shirts, Personalised Hoodies and for our Tour Collection (with various national colours on). The TOU11 England Polo Shirt looks set to be a big seller this summer personalised from £11.75 each.

John Terry

One of the key markets for World Cup printed t-shirts is often within large companies who are organising a particular promotion to coincide with the World Cup. Some key pointer s for marketing personnel organising these are:

  • Be organised early – look long term for your marketing strategy, what are you planning and what design would be appropriate for Customized Clothing?
  • Finalise your design ideas  – Create something effective but don’t try and create an artistic masterpiece as so many ideas can often be impossible or far too expensive to produce.
  • Choose your garment – Hoodies are the in-thing right now but will they be too warm for the summer? If so T-Shirts are great for a promotional giveaways or events. Polo Shirts are great for a smarter look if your organization is attending a special event.

Banana Moon prides itself on being embroidery and print specialists in price and quality so please contact us on 01924 420022 or e-mail us for a prompt reply – sales@bananamoon.co.uk.

Not so organised? Give us a call anyway and we’ll be able to sort it for you in quick turnaround time.
